MORGTGAGE REDUCTION STRATEGIES
PROFESSIONAL MORTGAGE CURTAILMENT AND REDUCTION SYSTEM
Version 1.03 12-29-90
The file MORTCOMP.ZIP contains all the files needed by the mortgage
reduction strategies system. These files are all stored in a condensed
format in the file MORTCOMP.ZIP and must be removed before the system
can be used.
MORTGAGE REDUCTION STRATEGIES requires 512k memory and one or two
floppy drives. A hard disk is recommended.
******************************************************************************
* THIS PROGRAM REQUIRES A LARGE AMOUNT OF DISK WORK SPACE!
*
*
* It CANNOT manage mortgage reduction strategy calculations on a
* system with only 362K (5.25 inch double sided double density) drives. It
* can compare two to four mortgages on these drives depending on the
* number of payments.
*
* THIS PROGRAM MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE HIGH DENSITY, 1.2 MEG DRIVE TO
* CALCULATE MORTGAGE REDUCTION STRATEGIES.
*
******************************************************************************
The program cannot be installed on a system with only one 362k floppy
disk (single disk system) . After it has been installed, it will run on
one 362k floppy subject to the above mentioned limitations.
The files cannot be removed on this disk. They must be extracted and
placed on another disk. The destination disk may be either an other
floppy disk in drive B: or a hard disk.
The menu system on this disk will do the task for you. It is
completely automatic. Simply place this disk in drive A:, log onto drive
A: and type (at the A> prompt), MENU<return>
The menu presents options to install the software on disk B: or disk
C:. The installation does not create a subdirectory. If you want the
system in a subdirectory, you must create it by using the DOS command
MD. After creating a subdirectory, log on to it using the DOS CD
command. The MORTGAGE COMPARISON system will be installed into the
current directory on the destination disk, either B:, or C:.
FLOPPY DISK SYSTEMS
The software completely fills a 5 1/4 inch 362K floppy disk leaving
no room for data files. If the menu option to install to disk B: is
used, the system created will expect the program disk to be in drive A:
and the data disk to be in drive B: Be sure there is a blank formatted
disk in drive B: before attempting to create a schedule.
If your floppy disks hold as much as 1.2Meg (High density), you may
place both the programs and the data files on the same disk by using the
hard disk installation option. To trick your computer into thinking a
floppy disk is a hard disk, type the command "ASSIGN B=C", with out the
quotes, BEFORE starting the installation, then select the option to
install the system to the hard disk.
If your computer does not have the ASSIGN command, look on your
original DOS diskettes, it is a standard DOS command that is frequently
left out by consultants and retailers when setting up new machines.
Once the system is up and running, the option menu will allow you to
define any configuration you like. You can place the program in any
directory of any disk and the data in any directory of any disk. See the
manual for details.
The sign on messages can each be bypassed by pressing the return
key. The message asking if you want to order the registered version may
be bypassed by answering "N". Of course, the registered version does not
print these messages, nor does it print the reminders on the schedules.
